BUG: Element Types need to include NType
« on: August 15, 2007, 06:35:06 pm »
When a user wants to change an Element type, they DON'T want to only be able to change the t_object Object_Type for that Element.

The UML Element type maps (in EA) to a combination of Object_Type, Object_Type + Ntype and Object_Type + Stereotype depending (apparently) on the whim of the designer/developer at the time.

However, from a user perspective, if I can drag two different elements onto the diagram from the Toolbox, I EXPECT to be able to use Element|Advanced...|Change Type... to allow me to change one into the other.  This also applies in the browser.

For example, there's no way to be able to change a FinalState (actually invalid UML - I think) to an ExitPoint using this dialog (nor any other...).

It's EA's problem to encapsulate its implementation so it's not visible to the user.

The list should be complete at the present EA (7.0/815) it leaves a lot out (since it only appears to show the set of Object_Type).

Inconsistently correct systems DON'T EXIST!
