Moving Keystore to an other Server
« on: August 15, 2007, 01:46:41 am »
Hello guys...

Our problem is that we have to move the SSKeystore to an other PC with an other IP address.

This will not looking such hard but the guy who installed EA is not longer working in this firm, so i have to do it but have no clue.

How could i install the Keystore?
I've searched in the user guide [1] and don't find anything about installing Keystore.

Could someone give me a little crashcourse?
Or say where i have to search? ;)

Big thx...

The keystore will stop working even if you just move it from one place to another on the same server.

This is because as a security measure, when a key store is created it records the hard drive serial number and the physical location of its storage.  This file will be deemed invalid at any location other than the exact location it was created.

So, you will need to use SSKeyStore.exe to create a new key store on the new server and reload your keys from your original registration email.  To use SSKeyStore you'll need the password that came with it.  If you don't have that and are still under support from Sparx I suggest you contact them for help/a new password/re-issue of your licence keys.

Hi!

Thanks for your explanation.
Is it right that I just have to make a new key with SSKeyStore.exe and make it accessible for the users (e. g. windows netshare) or did I have to install the whole EA software on the new server?

Sorry for all that questions....
