Use Case inheritance
« on: September 17, 2007, 04:43:45 am »
Hi to all,

I have a question regarding inheritance in Enterprise Architect. Probably a simple question, but somehow I am not able to resolve this myself.

I have defined two actors, one named Parent and the other named Child. After that I created two use cases, UseCase1 and UseCase2. I hooked UseCase1 to the parent with a normal association and hooked UseCase2 to the Child, again with a normal association.

Now I did a right mouse click on Child and did Advanced -> Set Parent. Obviously I defined Parent as the parent with type Generalization.

Surprisingly When I do a right mouse click on Child again and select Properties -> Links I do not see a link with UseCase1….

What am I doing wrong , or is this just not possible ?

If anybody can give me a hand, I would really appreciate it.

Warm Regards,

Jan

This is an Actor inheritance issue not a Use Case inheritance one I think.  Anyhow, I get the same result as you.

Since actors are classes too, this looks suspiciously like an EA Bug to me unless Sparks comes up with a good response.  :-/
Verbal Use Cases aren't worth the paper they are written upon.
