how to display abstract classifiers not in italic
« on: December 13, 2007, 05:16:45 am »
Abstract classifier (interface) details in a class diagram are normally displayed in italic, but on a TFT display this is difficult to read.
(How) Can I configure these interface details not to be displayed in italic?

Thanks in advance.

Frank

You simply can't. Italic is according to the UML specs. Maybe you can tweak your OS to display regular instead of italic fonts? Or you buy a better monitor...

Frank,

You can turn almost everything off though. Open the Tools | Options | Objects dialog and clear the Highlight {abstract} elements box.

I suspect this setting will prove to be too much of a good thing, and you won't be too happy with the results. Still, it's worth a try.

David

PS: One possible downside is that this setting applies to the entire model, and EA will remember it as the default for other models. However, if you change the setting again in future the new setting works retroactively. Only presentation is affected, the actual model data is the same.
No, you can't have it!

David,
this option only displays/turns of a {abstract} text. It's still in italics.

Oops.

It's been so long since I've run with it turned off.   :-[

Thanks for all your feedback!

AFAIK profiles can be used to add certain semantics or change the representation. This can't be used to change the font representation, or?

Not that I know of. Maybe you are lucky with Shape Script (just a shot in the dark).
