Nested packages don't show in diagram
« on: January 19, 2008, 09:36:43 pm »
When adding to a diagram two packages nested on project tree I would expect to automaticaly see a "nested" link between them, however they don't have such relation, wich i can add manualy.
Am I missing somthing?

Thanks

The nested connector has always - in my experience, back to 4.0 days - been a bit strange.

I can sometimes get it to cooperate when I nest elements in a package, but it seems to have its own view of nested packages. It seems to me that sometimes EA reinterprets how to set up nesting. It always comes out meaning the same thing as you drew, but I keep thinking that sometimes EA created a 'phantom' diagram and put the 'inner' elements there. Something along the lines of how EA sets up packages as sort of composite elements.

It's been a long time since I tried defining things with nesting connectors. At the time I was still beginning the learning curve with EA (and the EAUI) so I really cannot say what I did or how. I just quickly found that if I made my peace with EA and let it do the heavy lifting my life got easier.

No, Look up nesting by me you'll see some thoughts on EA's lack of support for it...
