how to do a model find / search / report
« on: January 31, 2008, 08:18:58 am »
I'm not sure whether I need a report or a model find...

In my model I've defined products (components with a stereotype of <<product>>) and linked them to the software components they contain using dependency associations e.g. Product 1 comprises component A, component B etc. (product 1 has dependencies on component A and component B).

I want to generate a report / list that shows me a list of products and the software components they contain.

How do I go about doing this?
Thanks
Michael

Hi Michael,

Would something like this work?

Run a search or use the Element List to find your products. Drop the ones you want to document onto an empty diagram.

Select an product, right-click and choose Add | Related Elements from the context menu. The resulting dialog will allow you to filter by link and related element types. Choose our components and whatever else you want to see.

Clean up the diagram and report from that.

No, you can't have it!
