Relationships between data, process and apps?
« on: March 06, 2008, 02:19:13 am »
Hi all

First post as I'm a new user to EA, but just spent the last 3 years using Telelogic SA.  My role is an Enterprise Architect so I looking at the bigger picture as opposed to the more detailed stuff.

What I'm trying to do is to create relationships between a business process (BPMN), the data model and an application model.  Thus forming a triangle of dependencies ie.  When the process changes what will it affect, likewise what will a data change affect etc

Is there a way of associating these objects?  or is it some sort of extension?

Thanks in advance
Gary

Gary,

Yes, though the answer is not simple. As with so much in Enterprise Architecture - and EA the product - it is what you make of it.

I suggest you take a look at the Zachman Add-in for EA. Even if you don't use Zachman, you can see that they have nicely fused BPMN with 'conventional' UML models. And they've done it in your context.

You can find information on the add-in at: http://www.sparxsystems.com/products/mdg/tech/zachman/index.html.

No, you can't have it!
