Open 2 (!) projects at the same time ?
« on: March 18, 2008, 05:15:30 am »
Is it possible to keep two (or even more) projects at the same time ?
If I have an open project and want to open another one in addition then EA prompts me if I want to save the changes of the first project (and then to close this first project).
So it seems to me that is not possible the easy way.

Yes and no. Each running instance of EA can only open one project (as in file or repository) at one time.

But...

You can run two instances of EA. Interesting but not necessarily useful.

You can also create two projects (as in models) within one file. This is done by right-clicking the project root (the one element you cannot remove) in the Project Browser, then choosing New Model (root node) from the context menu.

There are strict limits on what you can do with two projects. For example, you cannot reference an element in (only) one project from an element in another. This can feel like a major limitation, but it is a (fairly) logical outcome of how EA 'thinks' of projects. There are generally workarounds for these situations.
