UPDM Name Change?

Why did the MDG Technology for UPDM get its name changed to DoDAF/MODAF?

No one out there except you and I ever heard of UPDM and I hope you keep it that way.

Seriously, UPDM is an OMG Standard that has received the least promotion. The situation is so bad that recently, an EU body (EUROCAE) responsible for evaluating and selecting an Enterprise Architecture framework for the Aviation industry chose the NATO NAF3 framework. UPDM was never even mentioned in its shortlist.

Sparxsystem has done well to use the full title which says exactly what the framework is, a UML profile based on the unification of DoDAF and MoDAF frameworks. I have looked at the Add-In and the support is great.

Personally, I think it is a good framework but requires a services viewpoint (support for SOA).

I'm with Segun on this one. [So that makes three of us.] Even some (but not all) of my colleagues are unfamiliar with UPDM, and were still in 'waiting' mode when the beta was out.
