analysis diagram as scenario
« on: May 11, 2008, 04:47:47 am »
Hi,

based on the video tutorial regarding requirements, i've seen wecan express the UC scenario in textual form (basic path, alternate, simple) or by including an analysis diagram.

but if the text-form of the scenario are exported to documentation creation (F8) for UC, nothing is done regarding the analysis diagram.

1. so how can i include into UC documentation, the analysis diagram for each UC ?
2. how from the UC menu (from project browser) can i access to analysis diagram ?
for the UC property i just need to double-click on the UC in the main view panel... and i did not find anything to view analysis Diagram from the right-click menu (on the UC graphic representation)

thx.

1. Take the time to experiment with other 'canned' report templates. As you are doing this, start creating your on template. [Important hint: remember that you can only customize a copy of a standard template. Make the copy and give it the name you want, then pick that template out of the list when it comes time to customize. This is documented clearly, but missing this step is a common first-time mistake (I've made the same mistake twice).]

2. I don't think you can, at least not the way I think you mean. This is probably the EAUI (look it up on the forum) in action. You can use the Project Browser instead. The diagram will be shown 'under' the UC element in the browser tree, just as most diagrams show up under the packages that contain them.

Note: Sometimes these 'inner' diagrams are not added by making the UC a composite element. They can also be created by right-clicking the UC element and from the context menu choosing Add. This will allow you to create a few different types of diagram under the UC element; each diagram type will help you elaborate some facet of the UC. Depending on your requirement and the nature of the UC you might use one, several, or none of these. You can also add more than one diagram of the same type, should you find that necessary (perhaps a diagram for each major scenario or something).

The above behavior - adding diagrams to elements - is available for several other element types as well. For each element type you can go to the Add entry of the context menu - I don't remember if this is available from the main menu; you're welcome to look this up on your own - and you may see one or more diagrams offered. [Some elements don't offer any.]

For more hints about this read the EA documentation. Or search the forum for additional tips and traps.
No, you can't have it!
