Fragments in sequence diagrams (help)
« on: June 06, 2008, 02:18:35 am »
I'm creating a bunch of sequence diagrams. They contain Fragments (the boxes that surround multiple calls) for loops, alt, opt etc.

The problem is that they move around when I move totally unrelated messages calls or other elements in the sequence diagrams.

Then when I move them back, the stuff that was inside them sometimes moves and sometimes doesn't. So basically anytime I move anything, I them have to do several, or sometimes many other moves to fix the diagram.

It is rendering Sequence Diagrams virtually unusable for me. >:(

Is there any way to stop this behavior?

Does anyone know how EA decides to associate things with fragments? It seems to be more or less random.

Please help. I really need to get these things done and I'm spending all my time moving things around on sequence diagrams instead of designing software!

Thanks,
  Tim   :'(

Are you using the latest (or latest but one) build of EA?

I think there was something about this in the release notes for one of the past two builds (829 and 830).

If that's not the solution, report this to Sparx as a bug report. Use the link near the bottom of any forum page.
No, you can't have it!

Thanks! That was it.

I was on 7.1 build 828. Upgrading to build 830 seems to have fixed the issue or at least made drastic improvements.

Thanks,
 Tim :)

It's also worth trying to hold Alt when moving messages.  This allows you to move a message without moving anything else.  (If I remember correctly.)
