Actor- Use Case associations at package level
« on: June 19, 2008, 05:11:24 am »
Hi all, I'm enjoying EA, but have a question.

Is there a way to aggregate use cases and still show the associations at the higher level?

For example, I have an actor associated with a use case.  On the diagram, this shows a line between the two elements.  If I put the use case into a package, I would like to see the line appear on the diagram between the actor and the package.  It doesn't do this.

Answering my own question, partially ...

I still don't know if there is a way, besides using packages, to collect the use cases together and still see the actor relationships.

Look into composite elements in the EA help. You can do this with use cases.

I know it is not quite what you describe, but you might find the end result acceptable.

No, you can't have it!

Thanks David for the tip.  I've started playing with the composite elements and I think they will be useful.

Good stuff.

Search my recent posts - go back a month or two - for some other things you can do with 'child' diagrams.
