V7.1 - RTF Reports Template
« on: June 12, 2008, 07:25:23 am »
Hi

I could have sworn there were old postings on how to work with the new reports template editor, but searches on 'rtf template', 'reports template', 'user case associations to' yielded nothing useful.

I'd like to create a template, based upon the standard {use case template}, that includes the 'associations to' of type 'Actor'.  Basically, list off the actor(s) that are associated with my Use Case.

The online tutorial http://www.sparxsystems.com/downloads/whitepapers/Working_with_the_RTF_generator.pdf seems a bit out of date, and doesn't address such an addition.   When I right-click on {Element.Name}, I see the the typical Name, Notes, Phase, Status, etc., but no way to traverse an associations table to include the 'Actors' involved.

Can anyone help?

TIA
Gary

P.S.  "Generate to HTML" Output does have this though.. but I don't know how to transfer this functionality onto the RTF Reports Generator.

The RTF report generation largely works on Element Connector relations not Element-Connector-Element (Actor-association-Use Case), so it is best to report the set of Actors and the set of use Cases in one report.  If a different format is required for each, then the Vitual Document: Master Document - Sub-document can be used to set this up.
At present there is no filtering on connector types - we are looking at setting a similar filter to the element filter in the next major release.

I am ready to celebrate. This is a most desired feature of my team (after document generation we must delete not desired elements). Looking forward.

Im having a similar problem. I would like to filter based on the Stereotype that a connector links to. Could that kind of filtering be supported?

Do you have a release date?

Have you thought if there is anyway to automate the deletion of unwanted elements. Perhaps some kind of RTF-toolkit that operates on a table and deletes rows with a given value (=ConnectorType) in the first cell?
