How create instance of deployment specification
« on: October 10, 2008, 08:58:23 pm »
I'm trying to create an instance of a deployment specification, but it isn't working.
I tried creating an object on my diagram and then via "advanced/instance classifier" tried to select my deployment specification, but it does not show in the list.
As a test I created a generic artifact in the same directory and that one allowed me to select it as a classifier.
A bit strange since artifact is the superclass of deployment specification.
Is this a bug?

It appears to be. The Set Element Classifier dialog needs to list Deployment Specifications (which are Artifacts, which are Classifiers). Can you put in a bug report please?

The work-around for now is to Ctrl+Drag the Deployment Specification onto your diagram and in the Paste Element dialog choose to paste as an instance.

Thanks, I'll submit a bug report.

That's the good thing about always having 2 or 3 ways of doing something: if one way is blocked you can still do it another way ;)
