Importing object appearance image with transparenc
« on: October 15, 2008, 05:42:32 pm »
There are some ocassions when I am making a design that I need to change the appearance of an object.

I select the object and choose the Change Appearance and then import an image. The image that would replace it is a GIF with transparency but when it is imported into EA the image appears with an annoying white background that contrasts heavily with the diagram's background color.

Am I missing something or did the developers missed something?

I've noticed the exact same problem. So there are two people out here looking for an answer. Support for transparent GIFs would be welcome.

I've remarked on this before. The Image feature of EA seems to be legacy code, and does not handle transparent bitmaps. Other areas of EA do support transparency. [Note that the Image feature does allow transparent metafiles, but they introduce other issues. What's really needed is 'proper' bitmap support.]

I have brought this up in the forum, and with Sparx, in the past. No action as yet.

Perhaps you - each of you - would care to file a bug report or feature request concerning this issue. That might help convince the Sparxians that this should rank amongst their priorities. After all, they cannot make these choices without our input. With more requests it should be easier for Sparx to perceive the level of interest out here in the user community.

You'll find the appropriate forms by clicking the Report a Bug or Feature Request links below the Support link near the bottom of any forum page.
