Import with strip GUIDs unlinks hyperlinks to diag

I'm using a very old EA (5.0 build 769) and am having problems when I try to clone a project subtree using XML import/export. I've found that hyperlinks whose destination is a diagram elsewhere in the same EA model (but outside the imported tree) don't work - as in a Notes box opens. External links seem fine.

I'm using Strip GUIDs as I wanted a completely independent copy so changes made to the copy wouldn't affect the original.

Is (was?) this a known problem that might be fixed in the current build?
