Adding Tagged Values from an MDG to Specification Manager View

So I have created a new requirement stereotype in an MDG.
I have created requirements in a package and I am looking at the Specification Manager.

If I 'Add a Tag Value column' where the tag value is defined in the MDG then a column appears in the Specification view with the correct name but with no value in it, and it can't be edited.

If I create a Tag Value, manually on one of these requirements, then add that tag value to the Specification Manager view then the value appears and can be edited.

How do you get tagged values defined in an MDG to appear in the Specification Manager properly?
