environment for sequence diagrams from debugging

I am having difficulty with setting up the debugger.  I placed the following,
-agentpath:c:\progra~1\sparx systems\ea\SSJavaProfiler71
as instructed.  

Yet I get the following error when my Java program attempts to start:
ERROR: JDWP unable to get necessary JVMTI capabilities. ["debugInit.c",L279]

Any suggestions?
