Can 7.1 and the 7.5 Beta 3 coexist?
« on: March 19, 2009, 11:05:55 am »
Can I install the 7.5 Beta and still have 7.1 installed (and usable)?

If this was already answered, apologies... Couldn't find it with search...

An extension of this question:

Can I use EA 7.5b3 while everyone else is running EA 7.4 without corrupting our SQL Server / Subversion repository?

What I do is rename EA.exe before installing each new version, so my install directory contains EA7.1.834.exe, EA7.1.833.exe, etc etc. The disadvantage of that is I lose the old versions of MDG Technologies, help file, example model, a.s.o. If that is important to you, I believe you can rename or copy the C:\Program Files\Sparx Systems\EA folder to reflect the version number before installing the new version. You will then need to create a new desktop shortcut. The two versions will use the same registry keys.

That's a whole different question, and the answer is No (not yet)...

I use them both with same MSSQL DB and it works fine. But you better know what your doing and know the technicalities of EA infra and DB to do it.

Can 7.1 and 7.5 final coexist?
« Reply #5 on: April 01, 2009, 09:41:34 pm »
An how about 7.1 and 7.5 final? Were there changes to the DB structure or new elements/types/whatever introduced that would break 7.1 when connecting to the same DB?

Thanks!
