Information flows in EA
« on: May 14, 2009, 12:21:33 am »
Hello all!

I'm looking for a way to link information items in a Data Flow Diagram to the connectors between the process elements.

As well as the information items as the DFDs involved are informal representation of the data which has to be modelled. The information is in most cases something like; contract, drawings, part lists. There is not yet a structure in this information.

Now I can couple the information items through the information flows and thereafter make a data flow which realizes the information flow created before, however the information items do not show up in the RTF report, which is important for my assignment. Now I thought I could show this relation by laying a relation between PROCESS 1, the information item and PROCESS 2, however I'm not sure how I could do this in the right way so I can create a decent report of all 'Information Items' involved in a certain model.

Robbierzzz,

I think you are modelling it the correct way. I've noticed however that the whole informationitem thing in EA is very premature. So I'm not surprised that your RTF report doesn't show the information items.
It it were me I would not want to change anything to a correctly modelled model just to make it show on the reports. I'd rather write my own little reportgenerator then compromise the model because of the failing implementation in EA.
