What is a "Registered User" for reporting bugs?
« on: May 15, 2009, 06:32:45 pm »
OK, the company I work for has a LEGAL, registered version of EA 7.1. As we are users we sometimes find ourselves in the need to report bugs in order to improve the product but hopefully have the issue addressed by some sort of patch.

I, as one of the users in the company have a forum account, i.e. I am a registered user in the forum.

We as a company got a UserID/Password with the license file to login to Sparx and download the version we bought.

Well, I tried to submit a bug report via the link shown in the Bugs & Issues that says it is for "Registered users" (the other is for trial users).

Since I am a REGISTERED (forum) user I tried to login with my forum credentials to submit a bug report, no success and access denied.

I also tried with the UserID we got in the license because we ARE registered users, again access denied.

So apparently one is only a REGISTERED USER for a limited time... how on earth is one supposed to submit a bug report other than placing a post in the "Issues" forum? many a times I read there "post the bug using the bug form" ...

Buying a legal version of EA comes with a year of support. For this year you are considered a registered user and you can use the userid and password that came with the license to login to the registered users pages on the website.
If this year is passed, and you have not renewed your license you may still use EA legally, you just don't have right to updates and priority support.

If you are no longer a registered user you can still report a bug via this page: http://www.sparxsystems.com/support/bug_report.html
