How do you layout a mind mapping digaram.
« on: May 29, 2009, 09:25:00 am »
I'm kind of new to to EA and I'm sure this is a very basic question.  How do you layout nicely a mindmapping diagram.  It seems that it should be fairly easy to do, central topic out in a nice spriral (just like the examples).  For some reason my layout diagram icon and menu  option are disabled.  Any help is helpful.  thanks.   :)

I think the "Spring" algorithm on the Layout Palette might be good for mind maps. Go to "View > More Windows > Layout Palette" from the main menu and select "Spring" from the list and press the Apply button. (Ctrl-Z to undo if you hate the results!)

[edit]I suspect that the menu command "Diagram > Layout Diagram" is explicitly disabled for mind maps because the default algorithm wouldn't make much sense.[/edit]
