Questions About "Use Case" Terminology
« on: July 02, 2009, 10:22:01 pm »
Good morning!  I am a very new user to this forum, and Enterprise Architect as a whole, but need to come up to speed pretty quickly, so please bear with me, and forgive me if these questions seem overly elementary.   ::)

I am about to start creating some use cases in a test model, and am not sure about how to interpret some of the terminology.  Previously, my team did use case development in a MS Word template.  Some of the fields in that template translate to fields related to EA use case development just fine.  But others, not so much.  Here are my questions:

- Is there a way to track 'Date Created', 'Last Updated By', and 'Date Last Updated' for a specific element?

- Within the properties of the element, is there a way to track the Trigger Event of a specific use case?

- How do I indicate the Timing and Frequency of Use for a specific use case?

- How do I indicate Normal Flow and Alternate Flow data for a specific use case?

- Where would I denote Exceptions for a specific used case?

Thanks very much for your patience and help with these question.

Regards,

Keith

Not sure about what you refer to as "tracking"

- How do I indicate the Timing and Frequency of Use for a specific use case?

You can fill them as tagged values or, if required for the Timing, use an attached timing diagram.

These are scenario types which can be set in the UML properties dialog. You can record those paths as scenarios (Basic, Alternate, Exception) with the appropriate type.
