New build
« on: May 28, 2009, 05:36:35 pm »
I am a registered user - or at least the company I work for is. I started downloading the new build a few moments ago and wondered about the other downloads that are available on the same page if they are new builds too (for example the EADict or EALite download).

Can I ask to make it more clear on that page if those parts are updates too or not compared to previous builds?

Regards,
Wim

My guess is that the other files are not needed to be updated.

As you can see at the start page of the registered part of the site the following files certainly have been updated;
Quote
Latest Version of Enterprise Architect
Full Version 7.5 - Build 845 : Posted 28-May-2009
Patch Build 7.5 - Build 845 : Posted 28-May-2009

But indeed at the download page there is no note at the download of the patch file, although it is updated (just tried that one :)).

There are however separate instructions for performing a full installation and using the patch file.

What is missing (or could be more clear) is an indication that you should use only one of these options, and under what circumstances you should choose each option.
No, you can't have it!

Given that the filesize of the EALite.exe file that I downloaded has changed compared to the previous download, I'm guessing that the 'EA reader' has changed with the new build too.

Again I would appreciate if this would be made clear somewhere on the download page, instead of me having to compare filesizes.

Wim

It should definitely be clearer, but from my experience EALite changes every time there's a new build of the main product.

So any project I make with a newer build requires the new EALite to be installed with viewers/readers if they want to be able to see it. Good to know.

Graham is correct; EA Lite is updated and released in lockstep with each build of the licensed editions of EA. It shares the same code base.
