ODBC Import from SQL Server 2008
« on: July 31, 2009, 12:34:39 am »
Hello
I've added the SQL Server 2008 database datatype from the EAExample.eap. Now I can model and generate DDL using the varchar(max) and nvarchar(max) datatypes, but when I synchronize the model using the Import DB Schema from ODBC, these types are reset to text and ntext.

Is there something I am missing?

My gut feel is that you are not missing something, and this is a bug. SQL support for 2008 is new enough that some issues might have escaped notice.

Please send a bug report to Sparx immediately - use the Report a Bug link near the bottom of any forum page. The urgency is to ensure it reaches them before the weekend in AUS.

If you are a registered user you might want to use the registered users bug report instead. This version will allow you to attach a copy of your model or the schema that causes problems. Remember to compress any such files so they will take less bandwidth (EAP projects tend to compress quite well).

[edit]I just remembered...

Make sure you set the default DBMS to SQL Server 2008 before you do the import. Then verify that the package that you import the schema into is set to SQL Server 2008 (just in case).[/edit]

No, you can't have it!
