Changing tagged values is not changing elements

I have changed the tagged values on several gateways and the changes are not being reflected in the appearance of the element.

e.g. all the gateways remain a blank diamond.  I want the symbols for parallel, inclusive etc. gateways to display.

If I open a different model the symbols display on it's diagrams so it is a problem only related to this model. However, a collegue working on the same model can see the 'decorations'.

Finally, I have tried changing MarkerVisible to true and that doesn't work.

Would love some ideas.

I suspect that you have the BPMN technology disabled. Go to Settings > MDG Technologies and tick the checkbox next to either BPMN 1.0 or BPMN 1.1. You will need to restart EA.
