Unable to open EAP file on another computer
« on: October 26, 2009, 11:39:15 am »
Hi All,
Just moved to a new business area and am using EA7.0 for first time.

I created a project and saved it to external HDD.

When trying to open the project on my Notebook i get the following message "An error has Occurred: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file 'blahblahblah'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data."

There is another post here with same issue but none of the suggestions have helped.

Have checked file properties = is not read only, file security = have admin rights to the file, etc.

EA version = 7.0.818 (build 818) - unicode.
Created on XP(32).  Notebook has Vista Bus (64).

Any assistance would be greatly received.  I need to work offline on this project.

This probably has something to do with a different jet engine driver on both machines.

In the options somewhere there is an option to use Jet 4.0, that might help.
Otherwise, make sure you remove the .ldb file before trying to open the .eap file.

If your HDD has .LDB file (filename is the same as EAP file) in the same directory, it may work fine after deleting the .ldb file.

Hope this helps.
