Windows 7 compatibility?
« on: November 20, 2009, 05:10:59 am »
I am running the 32-bit version of Windows 7 on my laptop PC. Is version 7.5 of EA compatible with this OS and, if not, is there any schedule date for when a compatible version will become available?

Thank you in advance.

I've been running on the RC1 (build 7100) version of Win7 32 bit for months now and EA is fine (as far as I can tell).

I've also had a quick check on the released Win7 64 and it seemed OK there, but that was only transient.

HTH,
Paolo

I'm currently running the latest EA build (7.5.850) on 64-bit Windows 7 (and have been for about since whenever Windows 7 hit the streets) with no problems. BTW - that's with the Visual Studio and Eclipse integration add-ins as well.

Ya,know I had this weird dream the other night, I was on a planet where operating systems had to be compliant with applications, not the other way around.

Nah, then I woke up and put it down to that funny tasting mushroom quiche my son in law brought around.

Hey bruce,

If you lift the covers on Windows 7 you'll find that Gorilla has gone to great lengths to make Windows 7 compatible for applications.

In fact, in my case, so much so that my primary synchroniser for my Windows Mobile wouldn't even run the installer on Win 7 and the manufacturer said "Win 7 compatibility wasn't in their planning".

A couple of settings on the file installer properties and not only did it install, it works perfectly.  (Up yours Chapura!)

Sorry Paolo, not even tempted.

I'm so far over into penguin land now it would take several semi-loads of Reschs, fourteen truck jacks and a coupla dozen pub owners daughters to even make me consider WOW7!  :)

I mean, I've got a postgresql server here now running on a P3 with 1300Gb of data, (and OK only 18 users) running on VPN's and its been up now for nearly 1200 days.  (Talk about tempting fate    ;D )

There is only one machine running M$ and thats for one application - no clues for guessing which one.

s'Friday, cheers
see ya next week
