Version Control Settings - paths.txt
« on: November 28, 2009, 12:00:43 am »
Hi!

Is there a way to manage the "Version Control Settings" from a central place? We know, that the settings are saved in the windows user directory "..\Sparx Systems\EA\paths.txt". Is it possible to define another path?
If this doesn't work, could we overwrite the paths.txt without hesitation or does EA require to configure the paths.txt over the Version Control Settings dialog?

Thanks! Karlheinz

Karlheinz,

The paths.txt contains the user defined paths (not only for VC) so a global file would not really work.

You can however edit this file manually without problems.
EA keeps a relative path starting from the path defined in paths.txt.

Hi Geert,

thanks for your fast reply! Until now there are only VC-Paths in our paths.txt - this is probably luck. Maybe, a central VC config would be a nice feature in EA. Its very annoynig and error-prone that everyone has to change the paths locally.

Greets!

I guess they made it that way because usually the VC allows each user to define its own local working folder.
