Notes disappear when laptop sleeps?

I was talking to a customer this morning - making changes to a "Note" on a diagram - did not click off the Note object or do a "save". Laptop goes to sleep when I close the lid on the laptop. I find that when I walk back to my desk and open the lid, my changes to the "Note" element in a diagram have disappeared.

Is this possible? I have not been able to reproduce this happening, however. Wondering what I could have done to lose the text I was entering ... anyone else ever had this happen to them?

I'm really not in my field of expertise on this, but if I understood correctly then the operation system will save the state of the applications (to disk?) when going to sleep so it can restore it when waking up again.
Seems like the operation system, for some reason was unable to save the whole state, or maybe it didn't register the latest changes to the state.

Since you can't recreate it I guess we can qualify it as a "freak accident", but if it would happen more often I guess there might be a bug somewhere.

The difficult thing will then be to find out where the bug is located. It could be in EA, but also in the OS.

I haven't looked at this beyond what's in the thread.  But if you're using the docked notes dialog it saves the notes when it loses focus.  It wouldn't surprise me if for some reason when the laptop goes to sleep the lose focus message isn't sent.  That by itself wouldn't result in the notes being cleared, but it would be easy to lose it from there.

Thanks guys for the thoughts. I'll watch out for this situation in future. But I'm prepared to accept that I may have done something stupid. Wouldn't be the first time...
