Greenfield Version Control

Normally, when you onto a customer site, they have an existing VCS and you configure EA to use it.

Suppose you had a greenfield site with NO VCS and the freedom to chose one....   :)

Which VCS would you recommend to use with EA and why?  Have you tried more than one? In other words while I'm interested in sample sizes of one, but more interested in larger samples.

Also are there any you would NOT recommend?  Why?

TIA,
Paolo

Paolo,

In any way I would choose one that is supported as such by EA (in other words, don't go for the CSS interface thing)
I've used SVN and TFS recently without any major issues, but not really on a major scale.

Yes, I meant to be clearer that I was talking (principally) about supported VCSs.  However, for interest's sake if anyone could make a compelling case for some other VCS; it would be useful.

I would abandon VSS simply for the sake of being scrap.
Personally I use svn because it fits my needs (to a large extend) and it's free.
ClearCase is sort of a non-plus-ultra but it's also expensive.

Of course it depends always what you want to do. From my experience there is no silver bullet (like in most cases). Make a requirements matrix (EA is quite nice for such kind of task) and sketch the customer's UCs. Then decide upon the tool.
