Naming a new connector
« on: February 24, 2010, 05:57:18 am »
I have used EA for many years and had not noticed this. I introdiuced a co worker to EA and they immediatly asked me how to name a new conector. In particular, they thought that after placing the connector, typing should be open to enter the name. They are finding it cumbersome to place the connector, double click on the connector, and then type the name. I looked in EA and in the forums but could not find any eaiser way. Am I missing something?

I agree this is basic missing functionality.
For classes, artefacts, packages, objects, interfaces, and boundaries you can simply press F2 and update the name.
This should be the case also for connectors, actors, components (for example).
I recommend you submit a formal feature request.

F2 works for connectors, but only if the name label already exists i.e. it doesn't work on anonymous connectors, so doesn't help in this case.

There is an option, Tools>Options>Links>Edit Connector on New, which should open the properties dialog for all new connectors but which doesn't appear to be working. I notice there's an existing bug report for this so hopefully a fix will follow...
