Alphanumerically Listing Requirements for RTF doc

All of my requirements are numbered according to a specific reference such as for example 5.1.2.12, 5.1.3, 5.10, etc....

The RTF generated report lists these in word order, for example in this case, 5.10, 5.1.2.12, 5.1.3.

I know I can customize the requirements RTF template, but I can not figure out how to do this and be able to keep the specific numbering scheme.

Any suggestions?
