Linked Document Header-Footer Visibility

How can I set the default to view the header/footers in linked documents?

I've created a couple of linked documents with header/footer info. Every time I close the view/edit document window the View>Page Header/Footer selection gets turned off. When I subsequently view, edit, or print the document again, they're not visible, and I have to select View>Page Header/Footer to see them each time I open the linked document window.
