Export to Visio
« on: August 28, 2010, 07:16:46 am »
Does anyone know of an add-in or method that would allow me to expexport diagrams or even packages/models out to Visio?

I'm working with a group that has Visio everywhere and needs to get diagrams they can take over and continue maintaining.  Yes, I know it would be easier to buy EA, but they don't have the budget and willingness yet.

Simon,

There is a Visio MDG available on the website somewhere, but it is pretty old by now, and I think it only imports Visio.

Geert

PS. Why the hell would someone want to maintain a UML model in Visio :o Do they also want to extend the office building using Lego ;D

Geert is correct the MDG visio plug-in only imports visio into EA.
You could save diagram as wmf or emf format via the "diagram>save image..." menu then import into visio. Other than that not aware of any other process to do it that way.
Happy to help
:)

thanks you've confirmed my fears.
And yes, I know using Visio is non-optimal, but I don't have the reach or power to move this organization to a better tool at this time.

Thought: can Visio import a XMI file?  anyone ever done that with the UMLtemplates they offer?
