Creation of diagrams from entities (tables)
« on: November 18, 2010, 10:16:52 am »
Is there an easy way to create a diagram containing all (or a set of) entities in a package/folder?

I have a bunch of tables (~50+) and want to create a single data model diagram. Draging and dropping is a real pain (especially with network timeouts...).

Thanks in advance - CK [running EA - 8.0.864].

Select an entity in the project browser.
Hold down the shift key and select another entity in the same package.
All entities between will be selected.
Drag the whole lot into your diagram.

thanks, unless I am miss understanding that's is what I have been doing, but when I select a load of them I get timeouts from mySQL which the models are stored in. So was thinking there might be an alternate way...

Under Tools | Settings try
Preload entire model.
Can't advise on MySQL performance though, doesn't happen with SQL Server
