Newbie question about nesting diagrams
« on: November 27, 2010, 12:07:51 am »
Hi Folks
I am new to Enterprise Architect and am exploring dataflow diagrams.

What I would like to do is to drill down from a dataflow diagram element to view a diagram 'below' it.

I have tried this by adding a diagram to an element, for instance a data model diagram attached to a datastore element, or a lower level data flow diagram attched to a process element.

When I double click on these elements, all I get is the properties page for the element, but what I would like is the added diagram to be displayed.

There are certain elements, eg. structured Activities, which do this, but it would be nice to be able to drill down more generally.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Buzzer,

What you need to the option "right click|Advanced|Make Composite".
If there is already a nested diagram then this will the diagram that will be linked, otherwise a new diagram will be created.
