Using Baseline Compare to merge models
« on: January 12, 2011, 04:18:47 am »
Has anyone successfully used a Baseline Compare to merge updates? When I try that (and it's not only a single element but a package with lots of new elements) the merge process is more than tedious. You have to ctrl-click each and every element, package, relation, etc. instead of "merge the whole package contents". Am I missing something or is it not intended for a real merge?

I just did a little test, and if I right click on the parent package and choose "Merge" it merges all elements owned by the package.

PS. I'm on 8.0.862

I have the same version. Strange. I'll test again later in my sandbox. In production it did merge only a single element and right after it re-started the model compare. This takes quite a while and it looks like being unusable.

[edit:] You must be wrong. I made a simple test:
- Save a branch containing packages as XMI
- Delete one of the contained packages
- Compare branch with saved XMI
- EA shows the missing package with option "Add from baseline"
- Selected right that
-> EA only adds the package but none of its contents
