Information Flow Label

Quicky: Is there any way to turn off the 'flow' display on the diagram when connecting objects using the information flow connector?

Right click on connector, Visibility|Set Label Visibility...
and uncheck "Middle Bottom Label".
If you want to make this the default for InformationFlows you can try to define one in the template package and set the visibility information there.

Another approach is to turn the display of all connector labels off in the diagram properties, but that is for ALL labels on ALL connectors on that diagram.
