Executable state machine tutorial
« on: February 24, 2011, 11:10:31 pm »
Hi,

I'm new to EA, but have done MDD in Rhapsody.  I've been looking to see how to actually get a state machine defined behavioural model to actually execute, but have had no luck finding suitable examples, etc.

Does anybody know where I can find suitable tutorial/example projects of this, that actually work, so that I can use them as a starting point.

Kind Regards,

Aaron B

You should be able to find examples of how to generate source code from State Machine diagrams in the EAExample.eap model provided with Enterprise Architect.

Please refer to the following user guide page for instructions on where to find these examples:
http://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/8.0/software_development/code_generation_from_behaviora.html

Also, please confirm which edition of EA you are currently running.  Software code generation from behavioral models is only available in the Business and Software Engineering, Systems Engineering and Ultimate editions of Enterprise Architect.

As well as the suggestion from Aaron you might like to check out an Add-In called AMUSE

more details as http://www.lieberlierber.com

This provides simulation of state machine diagrams and maybe what you are looking for. AMUSE comes with examples and tutorials.

Cheers

Phil
