SysML Parametric Solver and Integrator for EA
« on: March 30, 2011, 03:20:50 am »
One of the weak areas in EA's list of extensive features (when compared to some other modeling tools such as MagicDraw) is EA's support in the area of SysML - specifically parametrics.   Our System's Engineers really want advanced SysML support to include the ability to build high-fidelity SysML parametric models which they can then execute within the tool to analyze/calculate various measures of effectiveness (MOE's) as well as to verify requirements and design constraints.

While it looks like the EA 9 beta is updating its support of the SysML standard (going from version 1.1 to 1.2 support), which is a step in the right direction to appease our SE's, there's still a lot they want that's not quite there yet.  The ability to hook into and work with MATLAB/Simulink models for instance.

Well, I came across this little announcement yesterday:

It's just been announced/released as beta, but it looks like it will give EA the shot in the arm it needs to keep our Systems Engineers happy.   Hopefully Sparx will partner/work with these guys to ensure that EA work seamlessly with this add-on along with the MDG SysML add-on.   :)
