Fill on border boundary diagram item

I am using v 9.04

Why can't I set a fill / background colour on a boundary object on my diagram. I understand it's a "boundary" for boxing objects but for documentation (i.e. copy paste to Word) it looks very plain without a fill colour and gradient.
