sorting Elements in a Document Template
« on: July 11, 2011, 06:09:50 pm »
Hi there,

I am new to the forum and would like some guidance on ordering elements in an exported documents.

I have detailed requirements aggregated to high level requirements.

The detailed requirements have a standard numbering convention.

However, when they are extracted from the system, they are not appearing in order in the document.

I have tried sorting by element name ascending to no avail.

Any advice you could provide would be warmly received.

See http://www.sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/9.0/reporting/rearrangethepackageorder.html

We documented it as follows

In a document the rendering order of the sections is controlled by the order of items in the Project Browser. The order and structure of the document layout diagram does not affect the order the document.

The order packages and elements are rendered in a document is as follows:[list=1]
  • the order of model documents in the project browser, as illustrated below
  • the order of embedded documents in the model document
  • the order of sub-packages within the information packages
  • the order of elements with a package
