Minimum Size of Alternative Image?

Hi,

Is there a minimum size limit on the Alternate Image that can be applied to a element?  The size of the image can be reduced to about 20 pixels wide by 40 pixels high but it appears that nothing smaller is allowed.  I'd like to get the image size down to about 10 x 10 pixels.  Is there a way to do this?
