Logically-delete a component incl. relationships?
« on: September 23, 2011, 12:45:27 pm »
I have a model containing many components and dependencies and I need to be able to logically delete components and then bring them back when someone changes their mind.  I don't want to have to physically delete the components because I would have to do too much work to recreate them.

I have tried creating an "unwanted components" package and dragging them there, but when I generate a dependency report, all links to unwanted components still get reported.

Is it possible to tell EA to ignore a component and any relationships that it is part of?   But in such a way that I can restore it if necessary.

We prefix the name of the "logically" deleted stuff with "DELETED_", and we drag them to a "DELETED_" package.

But for the RTF reports, I guess you specifically have to tell it not to report any "DELETED" stuff.
