Role-based authentication security

Has anybody set up role-based authentication security to ensure integrity of a large repository with many editors/publishers and viewers?

Yes. EA's security works but honestly it's more a "deletion prevention" than a real security. However, it should be assumed that people working on a shared model are not mean but cooperative. If you setup a SQL server you can use its security as an additional protection.
