Changing Diagram and Element Types

Why can't I change the type of elements to Part and why can't I change the type of any Sequence diagrams - even to other types of sequence diagrams?

You can't change it to be part since there is no dialogue to tell which part it shall be from. You would need to raise a feature request here.

Regarding the sequence: you should be more specific on what you want to change.

Element|Advanced|Change Type...
Diagram|Advanced|Change Type

These options are only available from the main menu, not from the context menu.

Geert, The point is that you cant change the type of an element from/to a part. Or change the type of a sequence diagram.  I have a number of different sequence diagram types in my Profile I need to be able to change from one to another when users choose the wrong one.  At present it is not possible to do this.

If its not allowed then you'll have to issue a change request.

If you really really need this fast you could try to change the type using the api or even a simple sql update statement. In this case thorough testing is recommended.
