modeling next release,while ongoing implementation
« on: December 08, 2011, 02:44:16 am »
Hello!

I am working as a business analyst in a project following the water-fall procedure model (mostly ;) ) where the implementation of release n is in progress and the analysis for release n+1 starts.
As it is, there are often minor corrections todo for the release in implementation if some details need clarification. My whole set of documentation is generated as reports out of EA. My EA repository is version controlled.
I am now facing the challenge of keeping the documentation of the release currently in implementation up to date and simultaneously start the analysis and therefore the rendering of reports for the next release.

I am aware of the baseline functionality, but this doesn't enable me to step forth and back between the version to render my reports. The versioning isn't of much help either in this case. The only "solution" I found so far is to copy my whole package and keep track any minor corrections in both packages to still be able to render the proper reports for both releases.

I wanted to ask if I oversee any usage of a versioning or baseline feature or if there is any other tool based possibility to simplify my task?

Thanks for any comment!

Happy modelling!

I think this is pretty much the same question you are asking:

I never quite got the answer I was looking/hoping for - but might give you some ideas or save you some time.

cheers ali...

The problem here is that the answer will simply fill a couple of thick books...
