One would be required to create one's taxonomy of ArchiMate Viewpoints as templates. They are not provided with the MDG plug-in.

The ArchiMate implementation in Sparx is dependent on your understanding of the ArchiMate meta model and the allowable relationshiops between concepts. The meta model is not enforced in Sparx - there is no checking of conformance of diagram objects and relationships against the meta model. There is no "magic connector" tool, or even context-sensitive guidance to modellers.

I have formed the impression the Sparx ArchiMate plug-in is limited to graphical representation of the concepts and the relationship connectors. (And attempting to re-size certain graphics can result in undesirable outcomes.)

Given the remarkable increase in interest and adoption of ArchiMate by solution architects around the world, you'd think Sparx would be putting some effort into the ArchiMate opportunity. The current implementation of ArchiMate is 3 out of 10.

Solution Architects in my part of the world are leaving UML behind in preference for ArchiMate, and SAs who couldn't be bothered to learn UML are picking up ArchiMate as a better option anyway.

Sparx don't disclose roadmap or strategy for any aspect of the tool, so we have no idea what they intend to do. :( :-[
