Update EA 8 to 9
« on: January 19, 2012, 03:19:20 am »
Hi !
I'm using EA 8 with SQL Server. Now I have to install the 9 version.
Would like to know if is necessary to make some procedure to migrate 9 version.

You can just upgrade. The DB structure has not changed.

Will I have problems with this new version? Example: One diagram disappear, corrupted template, etc...

We've upgraded from 7.5 to 9.1 just recently without a single problem.
We have a large model of more then 60.000 elements on SQL Server 2008.
Part of our model is version controlled in TFS.

We just upgraded EA from 8 to 9.2 and at the same time we upgraded client OS from WinXP to Win7 64-bit. (In the server end we are running MS SQL 2008 R2).
At first sight everything works fine. However, we have noticed some peculiar details. The "Notes" field isn't update properly when selecting a diagram from the browser, the dialog box needs to be opened to see the notes properly (other objects than diagrams seem to work fine) and it seems we can no longer make compositions.

Any suggestions?

This diagram notes stuff sounds like usual EAUI. It's probably been that way all the time. But what do you mean with the composite issue?
